Curbs on civilian flights, Govt Whip alleges witch-hunt

Visakhapatnam: Government Whip PVGR Naidu (Gana Babu) lashed out at the Centre for imposing curbs on landing of civilian flights at the Visakhapatnam Airport.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, he said that as Visakhapatnam city became the financial hub of Andhra Pradesh, the BJP government is trying to close income generation sources for Visakhapatnam by implementing restrictions through the Central government departments.

From November onwards, restrictions on civil flights would be implemented at the Visakhapatnam Airport, said PGVR Naidu.  Visakhapatnam Airport was developing, thanks to the efforts of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

In this backdrop, Centre’s restrictions on airport is a political conspiracy, he lamented. Due to curbs, Sri Lankan Airways stopped its services to the city and this may lead to other international services stopping their services to Visakhapatnam.

He alleged that Navy, NSTL, port, steel plant and railways in Visakhapatnam became hurdles in the development of the city. After TDP severing ties with NDA, BJP is meting out step-motherly treatment towards Andhra Pradesh, he reminded.
