Ongole Police arrested six buffalo thieves

Ongole: The Ongole police arrested a team of six buffalo thieves on Wednesday and recovered 22 buffaloes, 5 calves and 3kg of ganja from them.

According to the Ongole DSP B Srinivasa Rao, the police received complaints about the buffalo thefts in the recent months and the public also started to keep vigil by forming teams. 

The Manduvavari Palem villagers handed over 5 people and an auto to the police two months ago suspecting that they are buffalo thieves. But after the inquiry, the police found that they are innocent and the SP ordered them for release.

The DSP said that to increase confidence on the police in the farmers again, the police started investigation and arrested six people including Itta Pedda Anjaneyulu, Itta Srinu, Itta Ram Kumar, Devarakonda Sesharao from Ongole, Itta Venkateswaralu from Bapatla and Potu Ramakotaiah from Darsi in Ongole on Wednesday. 

The DSP said that the accused untie the buffalos from sheds and bring them to the main road of villages for transporting them in autos. They sell the buffalos to Ramakotaiah for a cheap price and spend the money on liquor.

Srinivasa Rao said that they recovered 22 buffaloes and 5 calves from the accused and distributed them to their owners. He said that they also found half kg of ganja from each of them and submitting them before the magistrate for remand.

The SP Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu appreciated the DSP and Taluk CI G Venkateswarlu and their team for nabbing the real thieves and upholding the confidence in public about police.
