Southwest Monsoon normal in coastal AP

Hyderabad: An upper air trough runs from the Gangetic West Bengal to north coastal Andhra Pradesh across Odisha extending up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level. The trough now runs from Odisha to south Tamil Nadu across coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, the Met department bulletin said on Tuesday. 

The Southwest Monsoon was normal in coastal Andhra Pradesh and weak in Rayalaseema. As a result during the day, there was heavy rain at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, West and East Godavari districts of north coastal Andhra. According to the bulletin, rain occurred at isolated places in Rayalaseema.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in coastal Andhra were: Nuzvid (Krishna), Amalapuram (East Godavari), Koida (West Godavari) 4 each, Kunavaram (East Godavari), Mangalagiri (Guntur), Vararamachandrapur (East Godavari), Eluru (West Godavari), Paderu (Vishakhapatnam) 3 each.
