Chittoor lad felicitated for scaling Mount Everest

Tirupati: N Varaprasad of Narahari Pet in Chittoor Rural mandal has scaled Mount Everest on May 22 and received felicitations from district officials in Chittoor on Wednesday. He was initially selected from the district to participate in the training programme arranged by AP government to scale 8,848 metres of Mount Everest in which 130 youth participated.

He advanced to the second-round training programme along with 11 others from the district which was held from November 24 to 28, 2017 in Krishna District. For the third-round of training, seven out of the 12 from Chittoor district have qualified and trained at Darjeeling from November 29 to December 18. Among them four reached next stage training at Jammu and Kashmir held during January 16 to February 5, 2018.

Varaprasad reached the final round of the training held at Ladakh from February 14 to 20. After that he received further training and suggestions at various levels and finally scaled Mount Everest. On this occasion, he was felicitated by District Collector PS Pradyumna and ZP Chairperson S Girvani, District SP SV Rajasekhar Babu and SETVEN CEO S Lakshmi.
