Primary Health Centre sans syringes worrying Patients
Eluru: Patients visiting the Primary Health Centre at Angara have been suffering problems for want of medical services.
While family planning operations were stopped for one year, patients have to purchase syringes to get injections. Supply of drugs from Central Drug Stores was stopped for five months.
As a result, the number of out-patients decreased to mere 100.
Neither the government nor the hospital development committee has taken any initiative to correct things here.
Though the hospital has Rs 1 lakh development fund, no facilities were provided to comfort patients.
People from Tatapudi, Angara and Padamarakhandrika visit this PHC for medical treatment.
Doctors used to perform family planning operations every Tuesday.
After retirement of regular doctors in December 2016, the operations were stopped.
Only contract-base doctors had been appointed to the PHC since then. The PHC is not addressing the welfare of mother-child as no gynecologist is appointed.
Presence of gynecologist will also help people of many surrounding villages, the patients opined.
With no supply of syringes and drugs, the patients have depending on outside purchase of the same. This situation has burdened them a lot.
Though the PHC officials took initiative to get syringes from neighbouring PHC, they turned useless because of standards demanded by patients here.
The patients visiting the PHC are put to hardships as the centre lacked basic amenities.
The people have been requesting the DMHO to visit the centre and take appropriate measures.
