Thieves decamp with 78L cash, jewellery

Guntur: Miscreants broke into the house of Meka Vema Reddy and decamped with Rs 78 lakh cash and 20 sovereigns of gold in Penumaka village under Tadepalli mandal of Guntur district on Thursday. 

According to Guntur Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao, three miscreants entered house of Vema Reddy in Penumaka while enquiring about school address in the village. When Vema Reddy’s wife Kamala replied that she doesn’t know address of any school and asked them to go out. Irked by her reply, the miscreants thrashed her and manhandled her daughter-in-law Siva Parvati also. Later they tied both Kamala and Parvathi with a rope.

Later, the miscreants barged into house and decamped with two bags containing Rs 78 lakh cash and forcibly took away 20 sovereigns of gold from Siva Parvathi. According to reports, Vema Reddy sold three acres of land recently and took advance of Rs 1.32 crore.

Later he gave Rs 40 lakh advance for purchasing a land in another area and kept the remaining money in two bags in the house.  On receipt of information from Kamala, Guntur Urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao rushed to the spot and inquired about the incident. 

Police pressed clues team and finger prints experts to trace the accused. The police also collected CCTV footage to trace the accused.  Guntur North DSP G Rama Krishna also inspected the scene of offence. Guntur North police registered a case.
