Vizag railway zone may soon be a reality: BJP MP Haribabu
Visakhapatnam: BJP MP K Haribabu on Thursday said that the BJP-led government at the Centre will announce railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters soon.
Inaugurating a mechanised laundry with an expenditure of Rs 30 crore at Gnanapuram in Visakhapatnam Railway station premises here on Thursday, Haribabu said this facility was brought into service on the basis of public-private partnership (PPP) mode and added the machine was handed over to a private contractor with an agreement of paying Rs 12 per washing, drying and pressing, for a period of 10 years.
The MP said establishing wagon workshop at a cost of Rs 250 crore, diesel loco shed, electric loco shed expansion and many other infra projects in the railway station were sanctioned and those works would be commenced soon.
He said all-party leaders had supported the railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters and the government would announce the decision in this regard soon.
In a recent meeting held at New Delhi, Haribabu said BJP president Amit Shah had discussed about the industries to be set up in AP. The MP said three Central ministers-- Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal and Prakash Javadekar—would be visiting AP this month.
