800 cr for Muslim welfare: Somireddy

Nellore: Agriculture Minister S Chandramohan Reddy said that the state government had allocated Rs 800 crore this year for welfare of the Muslims in the state. He distributed cheques to the Muslim leaders for Ramzan at R&B Guest House on Friday and said the state government had released Rs 5 crore for Ramzan festival. He stated Rs 45 lakh was released for repairs and renovations to 345 mosques in the entire district.

The Minister mentioned the state government has been supporting the community by allocating huge funds for the welfare programmes. Rs 1,100 crore was allocated in the last budget and he criticised the Congress for spending only Rs 340 crore in the last 10 years. He informed that a Shadi Manjil is being constructed in city with Rs 5 crore with all infrastructure on par with private structures.

He further said the Chief Minister was kind enough to allocate Rs 30 lakh for Muthukur and Rs 25 lakh for modernisation of the existing Manjils. The construction works would start within next 1-2 months, he added. With the funds allocated by the state government, modern facilities are going to be provided at all existing structures, he stated. Local leaders were present.
