Call for united fight

Tirupati: Centre rejecting Kadapa steel plant was the fallout of the tussle between the BJP and TDP, said CPI district secretary A Rama Naidu. He was speaking at a round-table conference on ‘Kadapa steel plant’, jointly organised by CPI and CPM city units here on Friday.

Rama Naidu said that it was the mutual fight between the TDP and BJP resulted in the Centre shelving the steel plant proposal on flimsy and called on the political parties to unite, setting aside party interests to launch a joint struggle to force the Centre to take Kadapa steel plant for the development of backward Rayalaseema.

CPM district secretary A Pullaiah said both TDP and BJP betrayed Andhra Pradesh and failed to do anything in their four-year coalition rule to fulfil the assurances given at the time of bifurcation to the state. Both the parties betrayed the people of the state, he said flaying Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu taking up the cudgel on the Centre and ridiculed his vow to finish the BJP-led NDA government.  

The meet resolved to organise a novel protest at Municipal Corporations office here on Saturday on Kadapa Steel Plant issue. RPI state president P Anjaiah, AAP state spokesperson Ranjith Kumar also spoke.

Meanwhile, students and youth under the banner of Vidyarthi Yuvajana Prajasanghala Ikya Vedika staged a novel protest by marching in the street, without shirt condemning the Centre move to shelve Kadapa steel plant.
