Dial 100 facility in Tirupati
Tirupati: The ‘Dial 100’ facility launched by the Urban police in temple city ten days ago is proving helpful to reach victims quickly. Earlier, all the calls reached Hyderabad through ‘Dial 100’ first and from there the calls are diverted to the respective police stations in Andhra Pradesh.
In the process, victims used to get cops help after one hour. The AP government took a decision to set up ‘Dial 100’ facility in every police district. The control room for ‘Dial 100’ for urban police district was set up in the central command control centre here.
Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty has been directly supervising the functioning of ‘Dial 100’. Four constables in each shift are receiving complaints from complainants. Urban police officials have trained 30 men and women constables to receive calls through ‘Dial 100’.
On an average, cops are receiving 50 to 60 calls every day and more than 80 calls during weekends. With the present advance communication facility, the cops can trace the location of the complainant through the GPS and will send the police personnel from nearest police station to the rescue of victims.
The advantage of setting up ‘Dial 100’ in every police district is victims can get help within 10 minutes. Speaking to The Hans India, Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty said the cops divert the calls to the respective police stations once they receive calls through ‘Dial 100’. Simultaneously, the information will be passed on to the nearest Rakshak team for swift action, he stated.
