AP CM Chandrababu Naidu holds strategy meet

New Delhi: The arrival of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Saturday boosted the morale of the anti-BJP grouping in the country, the prominent leaders of which headed to AP Bhavan for a 'strategy meet' with Naidu.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy, who are also here to attend Sunday's NITI Aayog meet, wasted no time in meeting Naidu.

Mamata Banerjee was the first one to land at AP Bhavan as soon as Naidu arrived and got closeted with him immediately. The other too followed suit.

Later, aides of Mamata and Kumaraswamy told The Hans India that the meeting late on Saturday night was crucial one as it "would help chalk a united course by the Opposition in taking on the Modi government henceforth on several anti-people issues".

Though they refused to admit much on record, they conceded that Naidu had come to Delhi with a "plan" and the CMs had been given a "peep" into it.

Accordingly, the crucial NITI Aayog meet on Sunday could witness some dramatic moments with the group either jointly or individually taking on the Centre for its anti-Federal attitude.

The neglect of states' interests, the neglect of the South in particular and the GST imbalances would anyhow figure in the meeting. But what is of more important for the anti-BJP parties is to find a common ground ahead.

Thus far, this has been lacking and it is quite clear that the 'each unto himself' policy' is taking them nowhere. Again, when it comes to opposing Narendra Modi, no Chief Minister or political leader has been as vociferous as Naidu and the latter is at an advantageous position to 'lead' the group.

Being the senior most politician too, Chandrababu Naidu has taken upon himself the task of guiding the motely group, it is learnt.
