Fitness certificate must for school buses: DTC
- 27 school buses were seized across the district in the last 2 months: Ch Pratap
- Says LL issuing camps in villages from June 18 to 24
Chittoor: The Road Transport Authority (RTA) officials seized 27 buses belonging to private schools for violation of rules across the district in the last 2 months, said Ch Pratap, Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC).
He mentioned that buses were seized as the private school managements had failed to obtain fitness certificates.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Pratap has said 2,256 school and college buses are being operated by private educational institutions in the district in which fitness certificates for 1,780 buses were obtained.
He made it clear no school or college bus would be allowed to ply on the roads without fitness certificates.
The DTC stated notices were issued for the schools and colleges running bus services to renew fitness certificates.
For the benefit of rural population, Pratap said Learner’s Licence (LL) camps in villages would be organised from June 18 to 24.
“LL would be issued on the spot after conducting tests,” he said, adding 14 camps in villages would be held per day in the entire week for issuing LL.
The DTC further said the government has decided to collect life tax for the e-rickshaws and e-cars as against the present system of collecting the tax once in three months.
