AP State will set up 50 junior colleges

Visakhapatnam: The government is planning to establish another 50 junior colleges, 15 degree colleges and 10 polytechnics across the state, said HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao here on Sunday while inaugurating a junior college building constructed at Rs 2.30 crore in Aganampudi.

Speaking on the occasion, he said despite the government was facing  financial constraints, the Chief Minister had allocated Rs 25,000 crore funds in the state budget for education sector.

To compete with corporate schools and colleges, the state had allocated Rs 5,000 crore to develop infrastructure in government schools and colleges, he added.  

Stating the government had already invited applications to fill 10,300 teachers posts through DSC, the minister said another 10,000 posts would be filled in the coming days. 

He congratulated Adinarayana, executive engineer of APEWIDC for completing the building within the stipulated time and thanked the Lorry Owners Association members for extending support in the construction of buildings.

Braving scorching sun, the TDP leaders, teachers and students waited for more than 3 hours for the minister’s programme. As per schedule, the programme is scheduled to start at 10 am but it started at 1 pm as the minister arrived late. MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao was also present.
