Blood donation to be construed as social responsibility: IRCF chief
Kadapa: The mega blood donation camp jointly organised by Hans India, HMTV, Kapil Group here on Sunday received good response from the public as about 60 people from various places voluntarily participated in the event. Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Kadapa district unit chairman A Pitchaiah Choudary, Kapil Chits Kadapa branch Assistant General Manager M Bayyapu Reddy inaugurated the event.
While lauding the initiative taken up by Kapil Group, the IRCS chairman called upon the youth to come forward for donating blood by considering it as social responsibility. He said that the IRCS has been organising blood donation camps across the district whenever NGOs, social activists, financial institutions like Kapil Group express their readiness to organise the camps by providing necessary infrastructure including accommodation to the donors.
He said IRCS Kadapa district was marked in first place in blood collection as 600 units of blood is being collected every month. He said it had also organised as many as 30 camps on first Aid, Disaster Management and other activities. Kapil Chits Assistant General Manager M Bayyapu Reddy said that he feels proud for participating in such social activity, and lauded Kadapa IRCS branch to be placed in first place in blood collection in the state. He said that in future also Kapil Group will extend support to the IRCS in blood collection.
Dr Ramesh Babu said only 3per cent of people are donating the blood as they have various apprehensions over donating blood. He said that every human body contains 5.50 litres of blood and a man can donate 350 ml blood without any difficulty. He urged the people to voluntarily participate in blood donation camps.
