Give up misapprehensions, Somireddy tells people

Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said donating blood helps to protect the lives during emergencies and appealed to the people to participate in blood donation camps. The Minister inaugurated mega blood donation camp at Indian Red Cross Society at Madras Bus Stand here on Sunday and the camp was organised by the HMTV/The Hans India and Kapil Chits. 

He said it is a social responsibility of every citizen to help others and blood donation plays a crucial role to save the lives during emergencies and asked people to come forward without any misapprehensions. He said major contributions to the haematology by Karl Landsteiner who developed various groups in blood which finally brought radical change in treatment supporting blood.

The Minister appreciated efforts of the Media group that shouldered huge responsibility to support through blood donation and especially congratulated the staff members who donated the blood as part of the programme.

Executive Director of Kapil Chits V Srinivas said the Group had organised the mega camp across the state on Sunday involving all politicos, community people and other interested groups for creating an awareness on blood donation and the staff members also donated blood. He said the Kapil Group has recently taken up the similar programme in Telangana.   

Earlier, the Minister lighted a lamp to mark the inauguration and garlanded the picture of Dr Karl Landsteiner as a token of expressing gratitude. Around 30 members have donated blood during the programme. Corporators Rajesh, Syam, TDP leader Kamalakar Reddy, Medical Officer from the IRCS Dr Syed Rafeeq Ahmed, motivator B Bhaskar Rao, and  other staff members participated in the programme.
