Uma offers Bonalu to Goddess Durga for early completion of Polavaram

Vijayawada: Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao offered Bonalu to Goddess Durga on Indrakeeladri here on Sunday.  He offered prayers to the presiding deity seeking her blessings for the Polavaram Project and early completion of ongoing work without any hurdles.

The Minister took part in Padayatra from temple toll gate to main temple premises along with the leaders of Telugu Desam and temple trust board members. He said the State government was constructing the project though the Centre was not extending its support.  

He further said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was working hard for completion of the project. He said the Opposition YSR Congress and some leaders were creating hurdles to stop the project. 

He exuded confidence that the project would be completed as per the plan with the blessings of Goddess Durga. On the occasion, Uma met the Nayi Brahmins who were agitating for their service benefits. He said that the government would solve their problems soon. 

Nayi Brahmins leader Annavarapu Brahmaiah requested the Minister to fix their minimum salary as Rs 15,000 per month. Temple Trust Board chairman Y Gouranga Babu, members V Shankar Babu, T Padmashekar and several leaders were also present.
