Vice Chancellor stresses need to allay fears
Tirupati: It’s time to allay all fears about blood donation and every healthy person should come forward to donate blood to save lives in emergency, observed SV University Vice Chancellor Prof A Damodaram. Inagurating the blood donation camp organised jointly by The Hans India, HM TV and Kapil Group on Sunday, he said even if one donates his blood he gets new blood. Not knowing this, many people having a myth that they become weak if they donate blood, he said.
Appreciating the initiative by The Hans India, HM TV and Kapil Group for organising the programme, he opined that with such programmes awareness will spread which will be essential. Only with the increase in number of blood donors, doctors will be able to save lives of people in case of emergency.
“The Hans India and HM TV have been so vibrant and continuously highlighting the issues pertaining to common man and trying to resolve them, he said.Kapil Group Regional Manager P Mallikarjuna underlined that blood is needed to any person in emergency irrespective of caste, creed or religion and thesetype of camps will motivate people on the importance of blood donation.
Junior Chambers former Zonal Director Babu said that any healthy person between the age of 18-60 can come forward voluntarily to donate blood to help the needy. On the occasion, a donor and BJP district General Secretary Ponaganti Bhaskar said that the programme was a good one and since media is conducting, the message goes well into the people.
Some of the donors came voluntarily to donate blood and one such donor P Sreenivasulu Reddy working as Computer Science lecturer in Emeralds College said that by knowing The Hans India has been organising this he attended it. In all 35 persons including NCC cadets and NSS volunteers have donated blood though several others have come to donate could not do it because of various health issues. Indian Red Cross Society, Chittoor chapter team led by Dr MV Narayana Reddy examined the donors and collected the blood.
