Amaravati: A day after tussle at the Secretariat, the Nayee Brahmins (barbers) said on Tuesday that there were some unknown members joined the mob and raised slogans against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. They apologised to the Chief Minister over the incident.

The Nayee Brahmin JAC members met Chandrababu Naidu at his residence at Undavalli and clarified about the Monday’s incident during which the Chief Minister expressed his anger at some agitators.  Guntupalli Ramadas, president of Nayee Brahmin JAC, explained that when they came out onto the road after interacting with Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy, some unidentified persons joined the group on Monday.

It was those newcomers who raised slogans against Naidu and indulged in argument with him, not the actual leaders who interacted with the minister. The government agreed to increase in remuneration from Rs 13 to Rs 25 for each tonsure at temples and also promised to solve other problems, he added.

For that, Krishnamurthy asked time to convey the same with Chief Minister. Then the incident took place, he said. Vinukonda Subrahmanyam and  other leader from the JAC said Chandrababu Naidu and TDP had done so much for Nayee Brahmins including regularisation of about 900 Nayee Brahmins working in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
