Girl who went missing at Durga temple traced in 24hrs

Vijayawada: The city police successfully traced a four-year-old missing girl from Durga temple and handed over to her parents on Monday. The girl went missing from her parents while standing in queue line on Sunday morning. She was found in Narasaraopet with a couple. 

According to One town police, four-year-old Navyasri, daughter of Pydiraju and Sridevi of Srikakulam, went missing from queue line. When the girl was found crying on the hill shrine, a couple hails from Narasaraopet noticed the girl and took her to their home.

Parents of the girl immediately informed the Durga temple authorities and later lodged a complaint with One town police about the missing of girl. The officials immediately verified the CCTV footage installed on the temple and outside but failed to trace the girl. 

Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang immediately constituted eight teams to trace Navyasri and sent them to Railway Station, Bus Stand and other places.

After careful study of CCTV footages available in some areas of the city, the police noticed the girl was talking to a couple and suspected they might had gone to Narasaraopet. Acting on information, Narasaraopet police began search for girl and found her with the couple. Later, the police handed over the girl to Guntur rural police. 

She was brought back to Vijayawada and handed over to the parents. The parents spent anxious moments till Sunday morning and finally heaved a sigh of relief with the tracing of girl by police. They thanked the city police particularly the One town police for tracing the girl.

Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang said the police achieved success due to the collective efforts of people and police. Stating the CCTV footages played important role, he congratulated the police for tracing the girl within 24 hours.
