Liaison officers to be seen at ITDAs
Eluru: The Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) will appoint liaison officers for every Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in the State.
Disclosing this at a review meeting on distribution of essential commodities to Adivasis at KR Puram ITDA, managing director of GCC Dr T Baburao Naidu informed that liaison officer for every ITDA will help in easing provision supply to Adivasis.
He wished the benefits intended for Adivasis should reach them at any cost. He reminded that he had helped Adivasis get justice during first phase construction of Polavaram.
He had witnessed how Tribals vacated their houses in seven villages falling under the project. The sacrifice of Adivasis in leaving their native places was praiseworthy.
People’s representatives brought several issues relating to Adivasis to the notice of the Naidu. They complained that the kerosene supplied by the GCC was stopped.
They also asked the MD to ensure distribution of farming loans, agricultural implements and accord permission to plow lands. They wanted distribution of essential commodities throughout the month.
The GCC MD informed that a supermarket on the lines of Chandranna Malls would be set up in agency areas. The GCC would purchase cashew and tamarind from the tribals from next year, he added.
