Mutha workers agitate for hike in wages
Vijayawada: Mutha workers belonging to Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and Lorry Mutha workers formed a JAC and demanded that the traders and businessman associations increase their wages.
The members of mutha workers JAC took out rallies at various places in One-town and Two-townon Tuesday. The rally at One-town started from Samarangam Chowk to Sivalayam centre and the rally at Governorpet started from Alibaig street to Kiran traders centre.
Addressing the gathering at Governorpet, CITU state leader Ch Babu Rao said that there was a practice that once in two years mutha workers wages were increased by the trade and business associations.
In this regard, the mutha workers reminded the trader’s association leaders through a letter dated May 29 to increase the wages.
As there was no response from the traders association, they once again reminded them to increase the wages. But there was no response from the traders associations and were reluctant and tightlipped on the issue, he added.
In this regard they had observed one-day work bandh to bring pressure on the traders and business groups to increase the wages.
He assured that the CITU would give complete support to the mutha workers.
JAC leaders Ch Sriram Murthy, Rammohan Rao, Ch Narsimhulu, P Yerakaiah amd others were present.
