Rahul Gandhi to hold meeting with State Congress leaders today

Vijayawada: The leaders of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) will meet All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday. The AICC invited the leaders of the State Congress party to participate in the exclusive meeting with the leaders of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee.

The meeting will decide the future course of action for the implementation of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. The meeting also wants to discuss measures to strengthen party base in the State. 

Already the AICC sent a circular to the leaders about the party meeting with Rahul Gandhi. The AICC president will discuss the party issues, Special Category Status and other assurances of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. The meeting will begin from 11 am and last up to 1 pm.

All the former ministers and senior leaders were invited for the meeting. The AICC appointed a coordination committee with the senior leaders under the leadership PCC president N Raghuveera Reddy.

Several senior leaders like KVP Ramachandra Rao, Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy, T Subbirami Reddy, Pallam Raju, Panabaka Lakshmi, T Bala Raju, G Rudra Raju and Masthan Vali are members of the committee.

The committee leaders will attend the meeting to discuss the party stand on future politics. Recently, the AICC focused on the ongoing tussle between the TDP and BJP. The AICC leadership is also observing the political plans of regional parties. The Congress leadership is planning to raise the Special Category Status issue on various platforms.

Already, the AICC gave assurance that the party would give priority in providing Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh if it is voted to power in 2019.

The AICC may give direction to the State Congress leaders to fight against the BJP actively on special status issue, said senior leader M Rajeswara Rao. Speaking to The Hans India, he said that the party would work with all political parties who want to fight against the BJP.
