one arrested, Rs 11 lakh property recovered

Guntur: Urban police arrested an inter-state thief involved in several theft cases in the running trains and at RTC bus stands and recovered 240 grams of gold and diamonds from his possession in Guntur city on Monday.

The market value of property they recovered is Rs 11 lakh.

According to the police, the accused, Bathamsetti Sriram (30), a native of West Godavari district, habituated to bad habits since his childhood and accused in several theft cases in Tirupati, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tanuku and Marturu cities. 

While the accused is suspiciously moving at the RTC Bus Stand, on suspicion, the police took him into custody. During the interrogation, he confessed to the crime. 

The police recovered 11 bangles, one chain, diamond studs, necklace, gold chain and four cell phones from his possession. The CCS team led by CI Rama Swamy arrested him.
