EPCDL engineer in ACB trap
Visakhapatnam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday trapped an assistant engineer of APEPDCL, Ravikamatham mandal in the district, G Rama Rao while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 through his private assistant Ch Siva for doing an official favour to a farmer.
According to the DSP of ACB, Visakhapatnam, K Ramakrishna Prasad, a farmer K Naidu, a native of Marupaka area under Ravikamatam mandal, approached the engineer Rama Rao for electrical connection to his borewell. The assistant engineer demanded Rs 20,000 bribe for the erection of electric pole and for laying of LT line to the borewell and to give power supply. However, after negotiations, the engineer asked the farmer to pay Rs 10,000.
Vexed with the engineer’s demand, the farmer approached the ACB. With the directive of the ACB officials, the complainant handed over the money to the engineer’s private assistant. The ACB sleuths raided the spot and took the AE and his private assistant into their custody.
