Hyderabad youth held for bike stunts

Vijayawada: The city police arrested six bike riders in the age group of 19 and 23 for rash driving and performing dangerous stunts on the Krishna Lanka Highway creating a panic among the people. The arrested youth participated in the bike demo, 'Road Rapperz’ at Adventura Club of Tadepalli mandal in Guntur district on June 10, and later performed stunts on the national highway at midnight in Vijayawada.

Vijayawada DCP Nawab Jan disclosed the details of the arrests to the media on Tuesday. The arrested youth participated in the demo conducted by KTM Company in Tadepalli mandal in Guntur district.  Earlier, the company had obtained permission from the Guntur district police for the event.

The company conducts Orange Day every three months as part of promotion of KTM Duke bikes and arranged a programme on June 10 as a part of the regular event on June 10.  While returning to Hyderabad, the youth performed some dangerous stunts on Krishna Lanka Highway violating the traffic rules.

Videos of the bike racing and stunts became viral on social media as someone shot the videos of racing and stunts. Later, the city police conducted a detailed inquiry and noticed that the Hyderabad youth performed the stunts and violated the road safety rules. 

The city police arrested Ayetlapu Nikhil, Mankar Mahesh, Ankam Siva, Nerrolu Raghuram, Chilakala Srinivas Praveen and Sultan Ranjith. They were produced before the media in Suryarao Pet Police Station. DCP Nawab Jan said cases were registered under the Section of 336 of IPC and Motor Vehicle Act. The youth may get imprisonment up to six months for violation of road safety rules.
