Students sensitised on dangers of depression
Vijayawada: The NSS students of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala participated in an awareness programme on the topic ‘Depression’ here on Wednesday. The event was held under the aegis of Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Medical College ‘Sparsh’ committee.
Speaking on the occasion, the college principal Dr T Vijaya Lakshmi advised students not to get depressed for petty things. She said that one should think positively and face the problem boldly. She said with positive thinking, many problems would be solved.
She said that the present generation feels depressed and tense for trivial things. They prefer to be lonely which motivates them to commit suicide, she explained.
She said that feeling lonely and behaving strangely was symptom of depression.
Parents and friends play a major role in bringing people out of depression, she said and added that they should not be left alone. She said that doctor should be consulted for treating depression patients, she added.
Sparsh committee voluntaries Kethana, Anusha, Hemanth, Harichand, Lasya, Abhinav along with NSS programme officer Dr K Sarala, T Nagarani and NSS students were present.
