Plan to set up libraries in gram panchayats

Guntur: Minister for Civil Supplies Prattipati Pulla Rao assured that he will try to include construction of new library buildings, renovation of library buildings in the MNREGS. He further stated that he will speak to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to include these works in the MNREGS. 

He was addressing a meeting at Vignan’s University at Vadlamudi on the occasion of inauguration of a two-day workshop for library secretaries, gazetted librarians, first and second grade librarians in the state. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is giving opportunities to those who work hard. 

He directed the officials to prepare a master plan for the development of libraries. He expressed confidence that the Chief Minister will respond positively for the development of libraries. He said that the government will strive to set up digital libraries.

State Grandhalaya Samsta Chairman Dasari Raja Master said that the government is striving to set up libraries in all the gram  panchayats in the state. He said that the local bodies have to pay Rs 340 crore cess to the Grandhala Samsta. He further stated that the government is examining the proposal to pay salaries to the libraries employees under 010 head.

State Libraries director P Parvati said if the employees work hard development is possible and added that due to resources crunch they are facing some problems. However, due to cooperation of donors, they are running the libraries, she pointed out. Vignan Group Chairman Dr Lavu Rathaiah was also present.
