4 held for lifting 17 bikes worth `6 lakh
- Accused lifted motorcycles parked outside parking space near bus stands or railway stations
- Commuters appealed to park their vehicles in the parking slots only
Nellore: City commuters have to be attentive as some criminals are lifting motorcycles that are parked in the parking spaces at railway stations or bus stands.
Central Crime Station (CCS) cops have arrested the four accused, who stole motorcycles in Nellore and Chittoor districts, on Friday.
The cops seized 17 motorcycles worth Rs 6 lakh from them. The accused were identified as G Chinnabbai, P Chiranjeevi, G Phanindra, and Ch Mallikarjuna.
Addressing the media, CCS DSP Balasundar Rao said that the four accused were habitual offenders and they had involved in bike lifting offences in various police station limits in the city.
He explained that Chinnabbai from the YSR Colony in the city outskirts had involved in 7 bike lifting offences in Dargamitta and Nawabpeta police station limits in the city and also in Srikalahasti police station limits in Chittoor district.
G Phanindra from Talamanchi village in Kodavalur mandal had stolen 4 motorcycles in Gudur and also in Nawabpeta police station limits in the city.
Another accused Ch Mallikarjuna was from Gandavaram village in Kodavalur mandal, who had stolen 6 motorcycles in Kodavalur, Vidavalur and also in Kovur police station limits, said the CCS DSP.
DSP said they nabbed the accused on June 22 in the district. He explained that the accused usually select the motorcycles parked outside the specific parking areas near bus stand or railway station.
The DSP appealed to the commuters to park their vehicles in the parking spaces only.
CCS Circle Inspector Sk Bobbyjan Saida, Sub-Inspectors SK Sharif, K Murali Prasad, T Madhusudhan and others were present.
