IT sector to provide more jobs

Visakhapatnam: The IT industry is registering excellent results and it would provide more jobs to the youth in the state in the next two years, said State President and Advisory Council Chairman RL Narayana and Naresh Kumar Oruganti. “The IT industry is creating employment opportunities.

Since January 2017 till date, as many as 12,167 jobs were provided in 76 IT companies in the state”, they pointed out. At the plug play space allotted premises as many as 92 IT and ITES companies commenced operations and provided employment to 8,448 youth. ITAAP (Information Technology Association of Andhra Pradesh) announced about the IT companies’ growth and the potentiality in the state in the next two years.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, State President and Advisory Council Chairman RL Narayana and Naresh Kumar Oruganti said that the industry is growing in the the state. They said that with a total committed investment of Rs 2,468 crore, 34,918 employment opportunities are expected in the sector. Against the task, over 20,000 jobs were already provided by 168 IT and ITES companies across the state.

For the past one year, ITAAP has engaged in multiple activities to strengthen the industry in the state. In the plug and play capacity, a total of 11.19 lakh sft was created in the state in which 8.34 lakh sft consumed by 92 companies and presently 2.85 lakh sft is available for the new companies.

Revealing the outline of ITAAP goals for the next two years, Narayana said that improving the incentives for the existing and non-growth companies, engage the government for power tariff rationalisation and bandwidth subsidy, increase the availability of plug and play facility, partner with the government to bring more top brands to Visakhapatnam and ensure that talent does not migrate out of the state are the tasks of the ITAAP. 

The ITAAP also collaborates with the academic institutions to falicitate the top performers and increase the industry-academia engagement, Narayana added. ITAAP State President (Designate) Sreedhar Kosaraju, state secretary Srihari, state treasurer Ravi Kishore Nunni, Vizag Chapter Chairperson Lakshmi Mukkavali were present.
