SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT : Best city award given to Tirupati
Tirupati: Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has been adjudged as the best city in solid waste management (population category of 1 to 3 lakh) in the national-level Swachh Survekshan-2018 competition.
MCT Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju along with sanitary inspector Sumathi received the award from Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri at a glittering function held in Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
As many as 4,023 town and cities participated in the national-level competition held in various categories based on the population.
Indore city which stood first in the Swachh Survekshan-2018 competition was chosen for holding the ceremony for the presentation of awards.
Chittoor District Collector and Corporation Special Officer PS Pradyumna, previous commissioner Ch Hari Kiran now working as Kadapa District Collector and a team of corporation officials were present at the award presentation function.
