YSRC MPs avoided bypoll: Somireddy

Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy flayed that the YSRC MPs have managed the Centre to accept their resignations only after confirming that there would be no bye-elections in near future.  Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy inaugurated works of the cement roads in Parlapadu and Rajavolupadu in Manubolu mandal on Friday.

Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the YSRC MPs had resigned only due to the pressure by their party chief Jaganmohan Reddy. They had only sacrificed their one-year honorarium, he quipped. With regard to the development in Sarvepalli Assembly constituency, he said that the state government had sanctioned Rs.105.49 crore for construction of CC roads to Sarvepalli constituency through Panchayat Raj division.

The government has been laying BT roads for every village with a population of 200 and gravel roads to village with more than 100 population and the works are being supported by the Asian Development Bank,’ said the Agriculture Minister. 

The government had allocated Rs 300 crore for basic amenities and also for Virtual Class Rooms in the state.   Measures would be taken to complete land acquisition for Degapudi-Bandepalli canal, he said.

He also said that he had set a target for completing the Kanupur canal and Degapudi-Bandepalli canal works on war foot basis for irrigation needs of the farmers. He stated that they have been reviewing with officials on the progress of works for every 15 days. 

The Minister said that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other Ministers have been allocating funds whenever he placed request before them for development of Sarvepalli constituency. He also informed that they would invite tenders for works of drinking water project to rural areas with Rs.1,600 crore shortly. Local leaders accompanied the minister during his visit.
