DRC meeting : MLAs vent ire at officials

Visakhapatnam: Ahead of general elections, the Ministers and MLAs questioned the officials over delay in implementation of welfare schemes. 

When the ruling party MLAs sought the explanation of the officials of various departments in this regard, the latter have no words to explain at the district review committee meeting here on Saturday chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and District In-Charge Minister N Chinarajappa.

Since the meeting started the MLAs targeting the officials and rained several questions on them.
Minister for Roads and Buildings Ch Ayyannapatrudu asked about sanctioning of pensions in his Narsipatnam Assembly constituency. 

He questioned project director of DRDA V Satya Sai Srinivas for delay in sanctioning of pensions to the eligible beneficiaries. Pacifying his Cabinet colleague, Chinarajappa intervened and directed Satya Sai Srinivas to sanction the pensions to all eligible beneficiaries.

Ayyannapatrudu and other MLAs also charged the APEPDCL and Transco officials alleging that they are demanding huge amounts to replace the electric polls and transformers damaged during the Hudhud cyclone. 

All the MLAs expressed their dissent over the APEPDCL officials and alleged that they are demanding huge amounts for small works also. When Chinarajappa asked to respond on the issues, the APEPDCL officials failed to give proper answers.

When Paderu MLA G Eeswari pointed out about dengue deaths in the agency, the DMHO officials reportedly listed those deaths as natural deaths. 

Collector Pravin Kumar informed the chair that the dengue fever confirmation tests are being conducted at the KGH only and there is no facility in any government hospitals.
 
The Collector informed that even the natural deaths are also being reported in the media as dengue deaths. In fact, this year, 60 per cent malaria and other deaths have been reduced, the Collector informed.

In-Charge Minister Chinarajappa directed the officials to complete the pending works without further delay. 

He further stated that the officials should attend the works of drinking water supply, laying of CC roads, sanctioning of pensions and houses on a priority basis. 

He also assured the MLAs that he would convene a meeting with the Minister for Energy to sort out the issues in the district.
