Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation bags first prize
Vijayawada: Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation bagged first prize followed by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (second prize) in municipal corporations category in AP Green Awards-2017 announced by AP Greening and Beautification Corporation here on Sunday.
As per Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Mission Haritha Andhra Pradesh theme ‘Green cover for a happy living,’ the State Government aims to increase the green cover in the State to 50 per cent by 2029.
As directed by Chief Minister, the government introduced ‘Andhra Pradesh Green Awards’ for creating awareness among the public to encourage improvement of green cover in the State, according to AP Greening and Beautification Corporation Managing Director Chandramohan Reddy.
In municipalities category, Tadipatri Municipality bagged first prize, Punganur municipality second and Bobbili Municipality third prize. Among gram panchayats category, Rajuvari Chintalapalem of Nellore district bagged first prize, followed by Kothali panchayat Visakhapatnam district and Botlaguduru in Prakasam district.
In gram panchayats (Dwma greening), Guravajipeta of Prakasam district bagged first prize, followed by Vadlamanu panchayat of Krishna district and Kambalapadu of Prakasam district. In Public Schools category, MJPAPBCWP School, Simhachalam, bagged first prize followed by Government High School, Komarolu, Prakasam district and APMDC public school Kadapa.
In private schools category, Dr KKR Happy Valley School, Vijayawada, stood first, followed by Heal Paradise School, Thotapalli, Krishna and Edify school Tirupati. In govt colleges category, Dr YSR Horticulture University College, VR Gudem, West Godavari district, bagged first prize, followed by College of Horticulture, Railway Koduru, Kadapa and Andhra University PG Centre, Vizianagaram.
In universities category, Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, stood first followed by Padmavathi Mahila University, Tirupati second and Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapuram. In private universities category, KL Deemed University Vaddeswaram, Guntur stood first, followed by Vignan foundation for science and technology, Chebrole, Guntur district.
In Government hospitals category, Government hospital, Vizianagaram, stood first followed by Padmbhushan Dr PSR Government regional eye hospital, Kurnool and Government hospital, Rajahmundry.
In private hospitals category, LV Prasad Eye Institute, Visakhapatnam stood first followed by NRI Medical College and Hospital, Mangalagiri and Apollo Speciality Hospital, Nellore.
In parks category, VUDA Central Park, Visakhapatnam stood first, followed by Chandrababu Satabdri Municipal Park, Peddapuram, EG dist and TMC Satyanarayana Lake Park, Tenali and MVNM Park, Machilipatnam.
In bio diversity parks category, YSR Smruthivaram, Atmakur, Kurnool dist stood first, followed by Nagaravanam, Kurnool. In small parks category, Sankaravanam, Srisailam, stood first, followed by Gulabithota Park, Eluru and Babu Jagjeevan Ram Children’s Park, Tirupati.
The greenery and beautification awards were also announced in offices category, individual home gardens category, apartments and gated community category, terrace gardens, Industries category, corporate category, individuals’ category, NGOs category and heritage trees category.
