4 children fall sick after vaccination

Vijayawada: Four children aged about 10 months were hospitalised with dehydration after MR vaccine was administered to them in primary health centre in K L Rao Nagar here on Sunday. Though they fell sick on Saturday, it came to light on Sunday. They were admitted to a private hospital in Satyanarayanapuram are said to be safe. 

Twenty-two children were given MR vaccine at PHC in One Town as part of the prevention of measles and rubella. In all, four children fell sick soon after vaccination and they were immediately shifted to a private hospital. 

Meanwhile, district medical and health Officer (DMHO) T Padmaja Rani inspected the PHC and also took the samples of the vaccine and sent for lab test. She ordered an inquiry into the incident. 

Vijayawada West MLA Jaleel Khan and YSRCP leaders and former MLAs Malladi Vishnu and Velampalli Srinivas visited the hospital and spoke to the doctors.
