AP plans integrated tourist project along Vizag beach road

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has approved India’s first-ever integrated tourist project with underground driveway on the Visakhapatnam beach road. The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) has proposed the project at a cost of Rs 60 crore connecting INS Kurusura, TU-142 Aircraft Museum and Sea Harrier attractions.

Along with the integrated tourist attractions, the VUDA has also proposed a 2-km-long underground driveway and spacious underground parking on the beach front. The project is an integrated museum complex which is expected to serve as a unique tourist attraction.

The project would meet the traffic issues on the beach road and provide spacious underground parking. VUDA vice chairman Basanth Kumar has explained the project and designs to the Chief Minister during the recent visit to the city.

Once the underground drive is completed, the VUDA will develop greenery and cycling tracks on its surface to attract more tourists. The underground parking area will have a capacity of 800 cars and 400 two-wheelers.

However, the VUDA has to get a few more clearances to take the project forward, including permission from the Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ), as the location comes under its jurisdiction.
