Vijayawada: There have been several irregularities reported in the Pradhana Mantri Awas Yojana in the State, said Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao while addressing the media here on Monday. Expressing concern over the increasing corruption in the State, the MP said that it reached to its peak.

Out of the Rs.3,272 crore released to AP for the construction of houses under PMAY, the State government submitted utilisation certificates only for Rs.1,072 crore, he alleged. ``The state government did not spend Rs.2,200 crore," he said and demanded Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to disclose whether those unused funds were diverted to other purposes.

``Only the TDP activists and sympathisers are getting benefited in the allocation of houses under PMAY. The party activists are also collecting money for allocation of houses," he alleged.

Referring to the reimbursement of expenditure for the construction of Polavaram project, the MP said that the Centre has already released Rs 1,400 crore and there had been no pending bills with the Centre.

About the establishment of steel plant in Kadapa district, the BJP leader blamed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for creating hurdles for the establishment of steel factory by not submitted the required information and details sought by the Centre.

Narasimha Rao described the `fast unto death’ undertaken by TDP MP C M Ramesh in Kadapa demanding steel factory as drama. ``If MP Ramesh really wants the steel factory, he should observe fast in Amaravati,” he said.
