Child Marriage foiled

Ongole:  The Child Line volunteers with the help of the Naguluppalapadu police on Sunday foiled a child marriage in Ravinutala village.

On a tip off that marriage of a 14-year-old girl is being performed with a youth of Uppugunduru, the SI Ajay Babu along with the Child Line coordinator P Mantra Naik and others rushed to the scene and took them to the Naguluppadu police station. 

The parents were sensitised on the ill-effects of the child marriage. 

Aslo, they were told that they were entitled to spend two years in jail and pay Rs 1 lakh towards fine.

The parents took the girl along with them only after giving it in writing stating that they have cancelled the marriage. 

The letter was addressed to District legal services authority secretary.

They also gave it in writing to the SI that they will attend before the child welfare committee.
