Man donates kidney to son

Vijayawada: A man gave a new lease of life to his son by donating kidney.

D Suresh Babu, an M Tech student from Ogirala village was suffering from kidney related problem for the past one year. 

The doctors of Sri Swarupa Super Specialty Hospital, Vijayawada diagnosed Suresh with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) state -5. Both the kidneys were not functioning, said Dr Paladugu Rama Krishna of Sri Swarupa Super Specialty Hospital on Sunday.

Addressing the media, Rama Krishna said that the patient Suresh Babu was suffering from End Stage Renal Disease, which was due to hypertension and excess usage of pain killers. The doctors after performing all the tests decided to perform kidney transplantation.

He said that the donor in this case was the patient’s father Devesahayam who gave a new lease of life to his son. 

The team of doctors Prashanth Kumar, G Srinivas Rao and Dheeraj performed the kidney transplantation operation on June 15 successfully. Both the father and the son were stable and would be discharged soon, said Rama Krishna. 

He said through CM Relief Fund, the operation was done and the patients were not charged anything extra.
