Olympic Run organised

Rajamahendravaram: About 200 students participated in Olympic Run held here on Saturday. District Olympic Association president Dr S Swamy Naidu,

corporation additional commissioner NVVS Rao, SAAP director Yerra Venugopala Raidy and sports researcher Sunakara Nagendra Kishore hoisted Olympic flag and released balloons at Sri Venakateswara Anam Kala Kendram.

District Olympic Association and Zone PETs Association jointly organised the run.

Later, addressing the students, Olympic Association president Dr Swamy Naidu said physical exercise and sports are very important in student life. Sports and games help to increase competitive spirit and to maintain good physique.

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) director Yerra Venugopala Raidu said the government was encouraging sports in the state in various ways.

Plans are afoot to make Andhra Pradesh as hub for sports. SAAP is putting its efforts to produce good sportspersons.

District Football Association secretary Sunkara Nagendra Kishore said sports would helps in increasing rapport between countries and underlined the need to bring past glory to the city in sports and games.

PET Association state president P Jeevan Das, Rajamahendravaram zone president AVD Prasad, Rajamahendravaram Atheltics Association secrerart Nagaraju and others were present.
