3 arrested for illegal supply of gutkha in Ongole

Ongole: The Ongole police arrested three persons and seized nearly Rs 5 lakh worth of material including one lakh packets of gutkha, Rs 10,000 in cash and the vehicle they used to supply, announced the Ongole DSP B Srinivasa Rao.

According to the DSP, the One-Town CI Md Firoz and SI Nayab Rasool were searching vehicles at Godugupalem on Sunday evening. They searched the Turbo Vehicle with registration number AP04TU5087 and found nearly one lakh packets of banned gutkha in the vehicle. After enquiry, they arrested Paluri Naresh of Anantapuram district, Nutanapati Bharat Kumar of Kurnool district and Gonugunta Ramarao of Ongole.

The DSP Srinivasa Rao said on Monday that Naresh and Bharat Kumar were supplying the illegal gutkha packets to Ramarao by the mediation Chota Rajkumar alias Tenali Raju of Tenali. He said that the police were sending the three arrested, Naresh, Bharat Kumar and Ramarao to court and a team is set up for searching Tenali Raju, who was absconding now. 

The DSP announced that the police seized 11,400 packets of Raja Tobacco company, 26,400 packets of Blue Bull Tobacco Company, 4,590 packets of Chaine Filter Tobacco Company, 28,500 packets of Vimal Pan Masala Company and another 28,500 packets of V1 Tobacco company along with the Turbo vehicle in which the accused were travelling. 

The SP, BS Yesubabu appreciated the DSP B Srinivasa Rao, CI Md Firoz, SI Nayab Rasool, ASI Baburao, Head Constables Madhusudan Reddy, Mastan Reddy and constables Ramesh, Srinivasulu, Srinu, Mallikharjun, Ahmed Basha for nabbing the accused and stopping illegal supply of gutkha in the district.
