Apologise, say Nayi Brahmins to CM

Ongole: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who insulted the Nayi Brahmins when visited his office, should apologise the community and establish the Andhra Pradesh Nayi Brahmin Corporation, demanded the Prakasam district Nayi Brahmin Sevasangam.

The association members staged a protest in front of the district Collectorate on Tuesday and demanded that the chief minister should respond immediately.

Valluri Koteswara Rao, president of the Prakasam district Nayi Brahman Sevasangam said that the chief minister insulted the people who approached him to convey their plight in the profession and seek assurances on June 18. 

He said that the chief minister was so arrogant and demanded him to withdraw his words against the Nayi Brahmans. He announced that as a protest to the comments of the chief minister, they were taking up phase wise protests until he apologise them. 

He said that the temples were receiving crores of rupees income on the tonsured hair every year and demanded that the government spend at least 30 percent of the income on Nayi Brahmans who were working as the barbers and music band members in them. 

He demanded the government should fix the barbers and the members of the band a salary of Rs 18,000 per month and establish a corporation in the place of the federation, for the development and welfare of Nayi Brahmins.

BC Sangham state working president Anjirekula Adiseshu, district president Goli Tirupati Rao, Nayi Brahman Sevasangham state vice-president Markapuram Venkata Ramarao, secretary Annavarapu Gurumurthy and others also participated in the protest.
