Coconut trader held, gold ornaments recovered

Vijayawada: The city police arrested a coconut trader and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh. The accused Tanem Yesupadam hails from Dubacharla village in Nallajarla mandal of West Godavari district. The accused used to purchase coconuts in West Godavari and sell them in Vijayawada. 

While he was doing business, he has developed intimacy with another woman and been living with her in Vidyadharapuram. The woman had deserted her husband and had a 13- year- old son. The accused Yesupadam had made the step son to rob valuables from different places in the city. The child became expert in house breakings and robbed gold jewellery from seven houses under the police station limits of Bhavanipuram, Kotha Peta, Ajit Singh Nagar.

Addressing a media conference at Suryarao pet Police Station on Tuesday, deputy commissioner of police (Crime) Shireen Begum produced the main accused Yesupadam before the media. She said the accused had suffered loss in business and decided to use the step son to commit robberies in the city. She said Yesupadam had faced difficulties to maintain two families at a time and decided to make the step son a thief. He was arrested by Governorpet police. DCP (law and order) Nawab Jaan and others were present.
