Goals to reduce gas emissions before 2020 hailed
Bapatla: The Forum for Better Bapatla welcomed the joint statement of 23 nations pledging to set more stringent goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions before 2020 and the nations have called on other countries to join them in expressing their desire to lead from the front.
In a statement, the forum secretary, PC Sai Babu said that member countries were already committed to mobilising $100 billion a year to help developing countries adapt to the impacts of climate change and added that commitment would go a long way in tackling the climate change.
He reminded that signatories to the pledge were Argentina, Britain, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ethiopia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mexico, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Rwanda, Saint Lucia, Spain and Sweden.
