Rally against drugs held

Rajamahendravaram: Prohibition and Excise department organised a rally here on Tuesday, in connection with International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Liquor. The rally was conducted from Y Junction to Devi Chowk.

Staff of Prohibition and Excise department of Rajamahendravaram South and North, Korukonda, Kakinada, Rayavaram, Rajanagaram etc participated with placards and raised slogans against drugs and illicit liquor.

Later, Prohibition and Excise Assistant Superintendent Lakshmi Kanth appealed to the people not to opt drugs and illicit liquor which spoil their health and life. 

Moreover, taking drugs and consuming illicit liquor was a crime and the department was putting its efforts to combat the problem. 

The department had been observing June 26 as International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Liquor since the year 1998.

Department officials Prakash, Hussein, Sudha, Rammohan Rao and many others were present.
