Rural economy growth key to State development: Yanamala
Vijayawada: There should be an consistent economic growth among people for the economic development of the State, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said here on Tuesday. He was addressing the Chief Planning Officers conference on ‘The challenges in implementing development schemes.’
The Minister said that earlier there were problems due to the comprehensive financial management system (CFMS) but they were solved. “Now the government is able to pay salaries through the CFMS,” he said. Admitting that there are still some problems, he said that they would be overcome soon.
In the changed scenario, the government is more reliant on planning departemnt to learn the conditions in the country and where we stand, he said and added that basing on the recommendations of the planning department, budget allocations would be made to various sectors like agriculture, industry and services.
In spite of losing the per capita income, the State has been achieving double digit growth - 11 per cent - for the last four years, the Minister pointed out. Stating that growth of rural economy was important for the development of the State, the Minister said that the government laid focus on this important issue.
Expressing satisfaction over achieving double digit growth by AP, being the only State in the country to achieve the feat, the Minister said that the State government has been insisting on the implementation of the assurances in the AP Reorganisation Act as the per capita income has gone down.
The Minister said that the government was closely observing the working style of the employees and there was no need for any recommendations for promotions. Sanjay Gupta, secretary of the State Planning Board, explained the significance of planning to achieve good results.
Special secretary Chalapati Rao said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed satisfaction over the working of the planning department. “The department bagged Platinum Skoch award,” he recalled.Assistant director AVS Sastry also spoke. Officers of Statistics and Planning departments from all the 13 districts were present.
