Indefinite fast for support price launched

Anantapur: CPM district committee has launched an indefinite hunger strike at the office of the RDO here on Wednesday, demanding among other things a one-time loan waiver for the farmers, support price of Rs 5,500 per quintal for groundnut crop, Rs 3 lakh crop loan without demanding mortgage of property and Rs 10,000 crop capital per acre by the government.

CPM district secretary Rambhoopal Reddy speaking on the occasion said that the party resorted to hunger strike after all agitational avenues had been exhausted. A signature campaign with 1 lakh signatures and a 30-hour satyagraha to did not yield any response from the state government. 

The party is also resorting to awareness creation in villages by party workers and farmers groups on June 28th on the government's negligent attitude towards the demands of farmers.
