Thundershowers likely in State

Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon was normal in coastal Andhra Pradesh and weak across Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Wednesday, thanks to the upper air cyclonic circulation over southern parts of Bangladesh and neighborhood which now lies over coastal Odisha and adjoining areas of the north-west Bay of Bengal.

The Met department bulletin said there was rain at many places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East & West Godavari districts and at isolated places in Rayalaseema, with Chintapalle in Vishakhapatnam district recording 4 cm.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Narsipatnam, Bheemunipatnam, Anakapalle (all in Vishakhapatnam), Chintur (East Godavari) 3 each, Chintapalle (Visakhapatnam), Visakhapatnam, Racherla (Prakasam), Visakhapatnam Airport, Koida, Polavaram (both in West Godavari), Cheepurupalle (Vizianagaram), Yelamanchili, Paderu (both in Vishakhapatnam), Garividi (Vizianagaram), Nuzvid  (Krishna), Denkada (Vizianagaram), Anakapalle (Vishakhapatnam) 2 each. According to the bulletin, the highest day temperature of 40 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bapatla and Jangamaheswarapuram.

The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at many/isolated places in the coastal and Rayalaseema regions from June 28 to July 1. No large change during the period July 2-4 is the weather outlook.
