APIMS JD booked for posting obscene content in WhatsApp group

Ongole: The Ajit Singh Nagar police in Vijayawada booked a case against Dr Gummalla Ravi Kumar, joint director of family welfare in Insurance Medical Services (APIMS) Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday night, for posting nude pictures in a WhatsApp group.

Dr Jangili Srinivasa Raja, a doctor from Vetapalem in Prakasam district, lodged a complaint on Ravi Kumar. Speaking to The Hans India, Srinivasa Raja said that the doctors in Andhra Pradesh Insurance Medical Services department across the state are running a WhatsApp group for a while.

On June 8, they received few postings with nude and obscene photographs from Dr Ravi Kumar, joint director of the department. Though the group admin removed Ravi Kumar from the group, the group members discussed and decided to complain to police to teach a lesson to people who misuse their higher positions.

Dr Srinivasa Raja and his male and female colleagues lodged complaint in Ajit Singh Nagar police station in Vijayawada on Wednesday. The police booked the case under 67, 67 (A) of IT Act, 2000 and started investigation. However, Dr Gummalla Ravi Kumar is unable to reach over phone after repeated attempts for his response on the issue.
