Attacks on Dalits on rise under Modi regime: Jupudi Prabhakar
Vizianagaram: Chairman of SC Finance Corporation Jupudi Prabhakar alleged that attacks and humiliation on Dalits are on the rise in the BJP led government in India. The NDA government has been functioning completely against the interests of Dalits and other downtrodden communities, he said.
On Thursday, Prabhakar interacted with media in Vizianagaram and said, ``The Union government is not interested to give special status to Andhra Pradesh. But it is taking speedy steps to harass Dalits by scrapping some Acts which have been safeguarding those communities. “TDP government is working for the benefit of Dalits and Christians and protecting them. But YSRCP never condemned the attacks on Dalits. Only TDP is fighting with Union government in the country.
The AP state government has spent Rs.2,713 crore for the welfare of SC communities. We purchased lands by spending Rs.550 crore and distributed to the people who don’t have lands. We will purchase 500 Innova cars and run them as taxis, which would provide employment to jobless youth among SCs, Prabhakar said.
The SC Finance Corporation will give skill development training to youth and help them to secure suitable jobs. Some of them may settle in self employment programmes. Higher officials should support us to achieve progress in the society,” Prabhakar added.
