Heavy rain likely in coastal AP

Hyderabad: As the upper air cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and its adjoining areas of North-West Bay of Bengal and West Bengal now lies over Chhattisgarh and its neighbourhood, heavy to very heavy rain occurred at isolated places in all coastal districts.

The Met department bulletin said on Thursday that the Southwest Monsoon was vigorous in coastal districts and normal across Rayalaseema. Very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in East Godavari district. There was heavy rain in Krishna and West Godavari districts.

While Amalapuram (East Godavari) recorded 13 cm, there was 11 cm each in Gudivada (Krishna), Narsapuram and Bhimavaram (both in West Godavari).

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the state were: Palakoderu (West Godavari), Kaikalur (Krishna), Dowleswaram, Rajahmundry, Avanigada (Krishna) 7 each,  Vararamachandrapur, Chintur (both in East Godavari), Tanuku (West Godavari) 6 each. While there was 5 cm rain each in Repalle (Guntur), Peddapuram (East Godavari), Tiruvuru (Krishna), Polavaram (West Godavari), Kakinada (East Godavari), Koyyalagudem (West Godavari), Nuzvid (Krishna), 4 cm each was registered in Garugubilli (Vizianagaram), Bhimadole (West Godavari), Jiyyamma Valasa  (Vizianagaram), Machilipatnam (Krishna). There was 3 cm each in Tadepalligudem, Velairpad, Eluru (all in West Godavari), Parvathipuram (Vizianagaram), Guntur, Veeraghattam (Srikakulam), Jangamaheswarapuram (Guntur), Kukunoor (West Godavari), Paleru Bridge (Krishna), Simhadripuram (Kadapa).
